Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Week 6

This week will be the last scavenger hunt sunday I do for a while because next Sunday I will be on an airplane on my way to London to see my sister.  I am so excited and have been counting down the days!  Anyway, onto this weeks prompts.  This weeks prompts were Capture the Sky, Everyday, Furry, Life and Blurred.

Capture the Sky

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Sky

Everyday - everyday for me begins with a cup of tea!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Everyday

Furry

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Furry

Life - this one is from the archives and is a shot of Corey and his new niece Marlee when she was born.  She was born at 26 weeks last July and just proves the miracle of life with her fighting spirit.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Life

Blurred - Roxy gets so excited when she finds a stick that it is really hard to get a photo of her that isn't blurred.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Blurred

I have had so much fun playing scavenger hunt sunday for this past 6 weeks and I can't wait to start again when I get back in April.  Hopefully all this practice will help me get some good shots while I am away.  Wish me luck!

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 27 & 28

Day 27 - The Friendliest Person You Knew For Only One Day

Dear Girl At Music Camp In Grade 7

We met at music camp in grade 7 at Tallebudgera.  I don't remember your name but I remember that we were in the same dorm room for the three day camp.  So technically I knew you for more than one day but oh well.  We became instant friends.  We hung out together every day.  You lent me your spare pair swimmers cause I left mine at home.  We rode on the inflatable banana ride together.  It was the funnest (yes that is a word) three days of my primary school life.  I am really glad I met you.  You were so nice to me and we had fun together.  It's a shame you didn't go to my school!

Love Kat!

Day 28 - The Person Who Changed Your Life

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 23

Dear Corey

This marks letter number 4 to you during this month but I think that just proves my point of why I am writing this particular letter to you.  You really did change my life.  When I met you I became a better person.  I stopped being the juvenile little brat that I was and started to mature into a young lady.  You have encouraged me through so much.  You pushed me to go to tafe so I could go to uni.  You have encouraged me the whole way through uni and now into my working life.  You believe in me and in turn you made me believe in myself.  I can never thank you enough for that.  Love you to the moon and back!

Orange & Poppyseed Cupcakes

This will be the 4th new cupcake recipe I have tried as a part of my 101 in 1001 item - make a new cupcake recipe every month for a year.  I usually make the same cupcakes all the time so this item was to make me start using different recipes and the millions of recipe books that I own.  I made these today (just in time for February) to take to our farewell picnic this afternoon.  Only 1 more week till Europe!

Orange & Poppyseed Cupcakes

Orange & Poppyseed Cupcakes from Cupcake Heaven by Susannah Blake
makes 12

115g butter
115g caster sugar
2 eggs
115g self raising flour
zest of 2 oranges
1 tablespoon poppyseeds

Preheat Oven to 180 degrees celsius

Beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.  Add in eggs one at a time.  Sift in flour and stir in along with orange zest and poppyseeds.

Spoon mixture into cupcake cases and bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown.  Transfer to wire rack and cool.

Note:  I don't like orange zest so I used the juice of two oranges instead and added some extra flour to get the right consistency.

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 25 & 26

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 11, 12 & 13

Day 25 - Someone You Know Who Is Having A Hard Time At The Moment

Dear Kylie

Today marks 1 month since your Pop passed away and I know that the pain is just as fresh now as it was on the day of his passing.  I never know what to say to people in these situations that doesn't sound cliche but just remember you have a lot of family still here and we all love you and will support you through this tough time.  And this is going to sound cliche but one day the pain will go away and you will be able to remember the good times you had with your Pop and smile.  But for now if you need a should to lean on I am here and so is Corey all you have to do is call.

Love Kat!

Day 26 - The Last Person You Pinky Promised Something To

Dear Hayley

I think you are the last person I pinky promised something too and I am pretty sure it was about the fact that we would come over and visit you for your birthday when you moved to London.  Well, here we are a week away from us leaving and I can safely say that I have kept that pinky promise.  I am so excited about this trip that my bags are practically packed already.  Now I just need to get Corey organised and we will be right.  Only 9 more sleeps till I will be in London with you.  So excited!

Summer Eclair

I finally have gotten around to sewing up this dress which has been sitting on my desk for months.  I cut it out just after new years along with another dress and a shirt.  The other dress and shirt are still waiting to be sewn up.  Considering I want to sew 30 things this year and this is only my second I think I better get my butt into gear.  Anyway, here is my new dress:

Summer Eclair

Pattern: Eclair by Colette Patterns
Material: Cotton
Time Taken: 2 months
Actual Sewing Time: approx 4 hours
Would you sew again: Yes!  This is actually my second Eclair I have made already but it is such an easy pattern to sew.

Summer Eclair - Back View

This pattern is so quick and easy to make.  It only took 4 hours including the cutting out of the pattern.  It may be because it is the second one I have made that it went so quickly but still that is pretty impressive. Hopefully I can get one more dress done before we go to Europe in 1 week but I wouldn't count on it!

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 24

Day 24 - The Person Who Gave You Your Best Memory

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 24

Dear Corey

Well this is the third letter I have written to you this month.  I think that shows how much you mean to me and what an impact you have had on my life.  My best memory is of our snow trip in 2010.  Partly because I had never seen snow before and it was so great to share my first experience with you but mostly because it is where you proposed to me.  The snow will now always hold a special place in my heart and I can't wait to go back.  Hopefully next year we will make another trip and then in the future we can take our kids there too.  You can teach them to snowboard and I can teach them to make snow angels.  Then they too will have great memories of the snow!

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 23

Day 23 - The Last Person You Kissed

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 23

Dear Corey

Since I have written you one letter this will be quick. I love you! I can't wait to be married to you and call you my husband.  I already get a kick out of calling you my fiance so husband is bound to be even more fun.  I can't wait for us to start building a family together.  It is going to be amazing!  Love you millions times infinity squared.

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 22

Day 22 - Someone You Want To Give A Second Chance To

Dear New Girlfriend Who I Wrote To Yesterday

I am prepared to give you a second chance at joining our group but don't hate me if I still judge you.  Like I said my loyalties lie with my friend and this makes me uber sensitive to your annoying qualities.  Sorry, I probably shouldn't say those sorts of things when I am giving you a second chance. So next time I see you it will be with a clean slate and an open mind. I promise!

Wandoan Weekend

This past weekend we drove out to Wandoan for my cousin's 21st Birthday.  Wandoan is around 5 hours west of the Gold Coast.  We drove out Saturday morning and came home Sunday afternoon so most of the weekend was spent driving but it was worth it to see family.  Next time we visit we will be going on a long weekend so we can really take everything in.  We went to the Chinchilla Melon Festival on the way out which was fun and we got a free watermelon.  Here are some photos from the weekend:

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 19, 20 & 21

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 11, 12 & 13

Because of the trip away I missed a few letters again so here is a catch up.  Oh and with these personal ones I have tried not to name people so that is why they are all written to cryptic people.  I know who I am talking about though and I think that is all that matters.

Day 19 - The Person Who Pesters Your Mind The Most (Good or Bad)

Dear Future Children

Lately I have found myself thinking a lot about when Corey and I have children and what you guys are going to be like.  Will we have boys or girls? Will you take after me or Corey? Will you love us? Will we be good parents to you?  So many questions with no answers.  I think I was always meant to be a mother so I think I will handle whatever comes my way.  I probably will have a mini breakdown and run to my mum for help but that is all a part of the learning process.  All I know is that whatever you look like or act like your dad and I will love you with all our hearts and will do anything for you.  Until we meet love you millions!

Day 20 - The Person Who Broke Your Heart The Hardest

Dear You Know Who You Are

I was young and in love but I was stupid! I should never have trusted you. I should have listened to my friends and stayed away but I didn't and I paid the price.  But I learnt a lesson and I will never have that happen to me again.

Day 21 - Someone You Judged By Their First Impression

Dear New Girlfriend of Our Friend

I know it is hard to be the new person in a group.  Especially when that group has known each other since highschool.  I have judged you by my first impression and I think I still am judging you by that impression but it is hard when I have known the old girlfriend for so long.  It is also hard because I know that she is hurting from this breakup and if she knew about you she would be hurting even more.  I find it hard to be around you and I think that is why I judge you so much.  I am sorry but I have loyalties to my friend and I can't change that.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Week 5

This weeks scavenger hunt sunday prompts were: Chocolate, Stack, Music, Canned Food & Numbers.  I actually didn't take a photo for canned food and had none in the archives that fit so I have only 4 pics to share this week.  We went away for the weekend so all these photos are from the trip.  I will do a proper post on the trip later today.

Stack - this was our stack of fire wood that the boys collected on the farm on the weekend.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Stack

Numbers - We drove the A2 all the way from Ipswich our to Wandoan.  I really wanted to get a photo of the signs that told us how long we had to go but they were all on the highway and I couldn't get a photo when we were moving.  This one was in Dalby when we stopped at some traffic lights.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Numbers

Music - I originally was going to use this for numbers before I got the sign shot but now it is music.  It was our source of music for the trip out to the farm.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Music

Chocolate - this is my cousin's birthday cake that we had for morning tea with watermelon on Sunday before we left.

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 18

Day 18 - The Person You Wish You Could Be

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 3

Dear Mum

My greatest wish in life is to be a mother.  I think I will be good at it.  I hope I will be good at it.  If I am even half as good a mother to my children as you were to me then I will be a happy lady.  I want to love and support my kids like you did for me and Hayley.  I want to be there when they get home from school to hear about their day.  I want to be able to bake them super amazing birthday cakes on their birthdays that they will remember forever.  One of my favourite memories of my childhood was going through your cake books for weeks leading up to my birthday trying to decide what cake I wanted.  It was the highlight of my year!  Most of all I want my kids to love and appreciate me as much as I love and appreciate you.  You are a fantastic mother and I could never have hoped for better.  Love you with all my heart.

Hair Time

I am really bad at styling my hair! I usually don't do anything to it I just straighten the front a bit cause I have crazy little curls that stick out at all angles if I don't and that's about it.  It is kind of boring!  When I posted my engagement video Rachel mentioned she like my curly hair and said I should wear it like that more often.  I made me realise I can't just expect my hair to look good I need to put a bit of effort in.  So I bought some curling stuff for my hair and have been giving it a good scrunch and blow dry to make it really curl.  Next time I will take a photo.  Then last night I was surfing YouTube and found so many fun hair tutorials that inspired me to try some updo's.  I did a cute little rockabilly easy updo last night but my hair was super dirty so I didn't take a photo.  Then this morning for work I tried out this video.

Yes I know she is doing this on a little girl but I figured big girls need cute hair too!  So I gave it a go this morning and it was super quick and easy to do and this is how it turned out.

Side Twists Hair Bun

You like?  My hair is not as thick as the little girls so my twists are not as big but I still like how it turned out.  That is my main problem when trying out this tutorials because they always look different on me cause of my thin hair.  My hair is still a little wet too so it may look different as it dries.  I am really excited now to try out some other styles so stay tuned for more pics.
